Tatra Museum Dr. Titus Chałubiński is one of the oldest regional museums in Poland. The museum was probably founded in 1888, thanks to lovers of the Tatra and Podhale. In addition to the Tatra Mountains, it also operates in the Tatra region: Podhale, Spisz and Orava and Pieniny. We will find 3 collector's departments: natural and ethnographic and an art department. He has also been involved in the conservation of monuments for many years. Initially, the museum consisted only of the main building. Over time, it gained new branches. It included various historic buildings. The museum is a center for research on highlander culture and fields related to the Tatras. His activities show the past and present of the Polish mountains, its inhabitants and the entire region. The exhibitions show all the richness of Podhale and the Tatra Mountains. Everyone who loves Polish mountains will find here a lot of interesting information. Publishing is an important work of the museum. It is published by the Podhale Yearbook. When leaving the museum, it's worth taking a look at the building itself. It is a valuable monument of the Zakopane style designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz. The museum is open: from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 - 17.00, Sundays from 9.00 - 15.00.
