The longest and largest valley in the Polish Tatras, located on the western edge of the Polish Western Tatras and constituting the left branch of the Czarny Dunajec valley orographically. It covers an area of over 35 km² and is about 10 km long. It is a valleys valley. In the lower part of the valley there are low-bottom forests with an admixture of beech, fir and relic Scots pine. Among the forests numerous crags whiten - the Chochołowskie and Siwiańskie Turnie monks look particularly impressive. Peaks and ridges of the higher mountains are grassy, they look the most attractive in autumn. In spring, you can observe flowering, characteristic Tatra crocuses. In the lower part, about 4 km long, it forms a deep gorge, which, like in the Kościeliska Valley, has narrowings called gates. The Chochołowska Valley is built of two main types of rocks. The southern (upper) part, above the Upper Chochołowska Gate, is built of crystalline rocks - gneisses and granites. The valley owes its name to the village of Chochołów, several kilometers away.
