Rysy is the summit on the Polish-Slovak border in the High Tatras. They have three peaks, of which the highest middle (2503 m a.s.l.) is located entirely in the territory of Slovakia. The northern peak, through which the border runs, is the highest point in Poland (2499 m a.s.l.). The Rysy massif is located southeast of Morskie Oko at the keystone point of the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains and the ridge leading northwards from it, in which lie Niżnie Rysy and Żabie Szczyty (Wyżni and Niżni). At the foot are: Dolina Rybiego Potoku, Dolina Biała Biała and Dolina Mięguszowiecka. From the north, it separates it from Niżni Rysy Przełęcz pod Rysami, from the west from Żabi Horse Żabia Przełęcz, and from the south-east from the Heavy Peak in the Massif High wide saddle Libra. A 500-meter-high rock wall descends from Rysy to the east, with numerous climbing routes. The name Rysy does not originate, as is commonly believed, from the diagonal gully visible in the massif of the mountain (so-called Rysy), but from the gouged slopes of the entire complex of Niżni Rysy, Żabi Szczyt Wyżni and Żabi Monk. The name was created by Polish highlanders and it has been in use since at least the beginning of the 19th century
